Kenya-
Afro-contemporary and fusion musicians Winyo and Nina Ogot have expressed worry about the direction African music is aiming at.

The musicians who have before performed at the Blankets and Wine, ONGEA- The East African Music Summit and recently at Rwanda’s Live and Unplugged Kigali are quite skeptical of the trend African music is headed,
“African Music is endangered. There is a huge gap between legends like Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela, and all great musicians. The youth aren’t taking the up the mantle, and it is quite difficult for one establishing themselves as an African musician, since most are more relying on technology,” explains Nina.
Winyo further states how technology ought to be a compliment to real creativity and authenticity, which the youth should adopt.
