Following the celebration of its 10th anniversary, the Amakula International Film Festival (AIFF) returns this year, with bigger strides, with calls for the submission of films in progress.
Accepting film submissions, especially from African filmmakers, including African diaspora, in all categories (feature film, documentaries, short films, animations), only films completed after 2015 will be accepted. All films submitted will automatically enter the Golden Impala Award competition.
The festival aims to provide a networking and learning space. Directors and lead actors are therefore expected to attend the festival and screening(s) once their film is selected. Directors from outside Uganda are also encouraged to be present. Whereas the festival producing organizations may extend invitations to all filmmakers to attend at their expense, directors are encouraged to find (travel, visa, accommodation, insurance) support and inform the festival producing organizations about any support or funding they might have.
AIFF is Uganda’s oldest independent film festival that aims to contribute to a vibrant local film industry, by broadening access to and developing audiences for quality African film production; inspiring local film makers to produce quality local films based on own stories; facilitating, presenting and promoting local film productions; and offering a professional networking platform for the film making community in East Africa and beyond.
