Located at Harry Thuku Road, Nairobi, the Kenya National Theatre’ s construction kicked off in the 1940s and opened in March 1951. The largest theatre space in Kenya with a 345-seater auditorium (stalls 278, Balcony 67 seats), a 9 by 10 meters proscenium stage, 4 changing rooms with a wardrobe room, a modern dance studio, ,3 rehearsal spaces, 2 seminar or discussion rooms, double shower rooms and 2 kitchenettes.

It has a redesigned Bar and Restaurant inclusive of two extended side Balconies that cover first-floor landing next to the upstairs VIP auditorium sitting area. Umkumbi mdogo (Mini Theatre) seats 150 Mugumo Courtyard (Outdoor space) Seats 2000 KTN has modern lighting and sound equipment added during its renovation in 2004.
Kenya National Theatre has played host to some of East Africa’s plays with recently closed shows such as award winning Sarafina, Edufa, Raptures and Fracture.
