With its marking its fourth anniversary, the Kigali Jazz Junction, an event dedicated to the celebration of Afro-Jazz and live music alongside the nurturing of local hosting returns with three great talents.
This edition, which is scheduled for May 31 at Camp Kigali brings together talented acts like South Africa’s Zahara Bulerwa Mkutukana, an Afro Soul musician, Kenya’s Rapper and Afro fusion act Nyashinski and Amalon, Rwanda’s Afro R&B musician, who will be performing.
Zahara garnered a huge audience through her Afro Soul songs, which she mainly sings in Xhosa, her native language.
She released her debut album Loliwe(2011), and doubled platinum. Known through songs Phendula, Ghodi among others, the guitarist boasts of several nomination and awards like the South African Music Awards, African Music Magazine Awards, Nigeria Entertainment Awards, Metro Fm Music Awards among others.
Rapper and Afro fusion act Nyamara Ongegu alias Nyashinski, who is to perform in Kigali for the first time, has so far enjoyed great success ever since he embarked onto a solo career following his split from Kleptomaniax over 12 years ago.
Through songs like Bebi bebi, Now You Know, Malaika, Mungu Pekee among others, the Rapper, who also an influential Afro Soul sensation has further weaved collaborations with acts like Kenya’s Nameless and Sauti Sol. He also holds one with Yemi Alade, courtesy of Coke Studio Africa.
For the first time, Rwanda’s Afro R&B musician Amani Bizimana alias Amalon is to grace the Kigali Jazz Junction stage.
The fast rising musician has since last year gained recognition through songs Yambi, Byakubaho and Delila featuring Ally Soudi , while through a few platforms like the Isano Music Festival, he has expressed immense live performance, making him set for the Kigali Jazz Junction stage.
