Uganda’s renowned music video director Sasha VyBz of Savy Films has publically come out to express how he no longer is interested in being nominated by local award events.
Through his Facebook account, the artiste make it know how his management prefers not to be nominated in any ‘Ugandan Awards.’
It is still not known why he reacted like this, but its is believed how the artiste is fed up of receiving several nominations, yet awards are in the end scooped by other younger directors. However, the artiste’s post has sparked debate amongst his fans, who through comments on his wall expressed mixed reactions towards this move.
The Award-winning director, who in the recent years has risen to fame is praised for his exquisite work, which has continuously drawn local and regional artistes to work with him, including advertising agencies.
Shasha Vybz alias Ian Akankwasa’s journey dates years ago, where he started out by pursuing a Film and Television Production course at South Africa’s City Versity Collage together with colleagues like Clarence Peters and Godfather, who are one of Africa’s finest videographers too. He later returned to Uganda and initiated Savy Films, which he runs till this day. He has worked with Uganda’s top artistes like Jose Chameleone, Bebecool, Eddie Kenzo, Lilian Mbabazi, Pallaso,Juliana Kanyomozi, Remah Namakula, Radio&Weasel, Ziza Bafana, Atlas Da African , Sheehah Kalungi, Cindy Sanyu among other regional artistes from Kenya and Tanzania too.
