Rwanda to Represent East Africa at the Hellwach Festival 2017

Taking place at HELIOS Theatre in Hamm, Germany, from February 11th to 19th , the festival is feature various theater companies from seven countries from Europe and Africa

A group of Rwandan Artistes recently set off for the Hellwach Festival– an international festival incorporating theatre presentations of various age groups, including infants, teenagers and adults.

Taking place at HELIOS Theatre in Hamm, Germany, from February 11th to 19th , the festival is feature various theater companies from seven countries  from Europe and Africa which include Aaben dans (Denmark), Le fil rouge (France), Piccoli Principi (Italy), Thalias Kompagnons (Germany), , Magnet Theatre (South Africa) and Ishyo Arts Center( Rwanda).

From East Africa, Rwanda is to be represented by Ishyo Arts Centre, which includes members Carole Karemera, Eliane Umuhire, Michael Sengazi and Hervé Twahirwa who will stage two plays; Our House, a collaborative act with HELIOS Theater (Germany) on February 11th and 13th , then We Call it Love on February 13th and 14th . This play, which is going to hold its first English language premiere, has already toured in Kinshasa (DRC), Paris (France) and in Rwanda (Kigali).

The festival will also feature discussion and interaction sessions between theatre directors and the audience aimed at harnessing theater culture amongst young audiences.

Other presentations will include Igen(Again) by Aaben dans (Denmark), Enchantés (Delighted) by Le fil rouge (France), CutOuts by Piccoli Principi (Italy), Am Faden entlang (Follow The Yarn) by Thalias Kompagnons (Germany), Tiyatrotem (Turkey), while South Africa’s Magnet Theatre will present I Turned Away And She Was Gone, and AHA.
