Southern Sudan’s Winnie Godi is one of the youngest fashion designer to feature big at this year’s Swahili Fashion Week 2016’s Ninth edition, an event taking place from December 2nd till 4th at Dar es salaam in Tanzania.

The talented female, who operates Winnie G. Fashions is to join local and continental fashion designers who include JAMILLA VERA SWAI, H&A DRESS2IMPRESS, NA LANGU NI, MILLY’Z, AFRIKAWALA (ZAMBIA), DARLING HAIR SHOW by REHEMA SAMO, SOBER (SOUTH AFRICA), MANYATA HOUSE OF ACCESSORIES, BONUZI and South Africa’s RUBICON on December 2nd.

Also will be WASHINGTON BENBELLA – EMERGING DESIGNERS COMPETITION, AFRICASHINERS, KAI’S DIVO COLLECTION (UGANDA), VAN CJUNIOR, BRILLS’ CREATION, KAHVARAH (SOUTH AFRICA/TANZANIA), MKWANDULE’SON, ZARGUE’SIA (ZIMBABWE), BIJOUX TRENDY, SAMZ and Uganda’s BERYL QOUTURE who are to showcase on December 3rd, while ORAPELENG (SOUTH AFRICA), MARTIN KADINDA, KIKI’S FASHION, JREASON (NIGERIA), LUCKY CREATIONS, AFRIKA SANA, THE MABINTI CENTRE, RICH MNISI (SOUTH AFRICA) will showcase on December 4th, which is the closing date.
The Sudanese designer, who unveils unique stylish outfits for teens and youth, also showcased at this year’s Kigali Fashion week event in July.
Founded and created by celebrated Pan African couturier from Tanzania, Mustafa Hassanali in year 2008, and being one of the biggest and largest annual fashion event in the whole of East and Central Africa, the Swahili Fashion Week, is an event providing platform for fashion and accessory designers from Swahili speaking countries and beyond to showcase their talent, market their creativity and network with clientele and the international fashion industry.
This is all aimed at emphasizing to the region that fashion is an income generating creative industry, meanwhile promoting a ‘Made in Africa’ concept.
