Returning for the 9th edition is the Focus On Disability Short Film Festival, a platform by NOVA Employment. This festival calls on filmmakers to ‘Focus on the Ability‘ of people with a disability and tell a story through film for the world to view.

This year too is another anticipated one for more to tell the story through the power of film, for through sponsors, a donated over $140,000 worth of cash and prizes is up to encourage film makers and people with disability to tell their stories according to organizers.

Focus On Disability Festival

Last year, 194 films were received, from 18 countries, while the festival culminates in its red carpet awards night very year. This year, entrants will have the chance to feel like Scorsese and see their films premiered on the big screen as well as the opportunity to have their films shown on national television after the Awards night.

Last year, 10 films were screened across Australia’s free to air television station SBS and 80 films aired on Foxtel through Aurora TV, and the festival held additional screenings in New York, Melbourne, Adelaide and Auckland. We have additional exciting screening opportunities planned for this festival in 2017.

One of the requirement is that the film shouldn’t exceed 5 minutes. Interested applicants can submit in their projects through visiting; http://www.focusonability.com/FOA/about.html , and filling in the applications.

Deadline for submissions is 30th June.
